ABOUT
About Jon Weinstein
Jon believes that the role of elected officials is to provide “Responsive and Responsible Representation.” The opportunities and challenges facing Howard County require a Council member who has the ability, credibility, and relationships to work effectively with constituents, community leaders, elected representatives, and government personnel around the county and state. Jon’s years of experience as a business owner, consultant, and facilitator working to improve local, state, and federal government organizations makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the County Council. He has demonstrated this approach to public service by working closely on issues, policies, and legislation important to District 1 and Howard County with his Council colleagues, County Executive, and members of our State and Federal Delegations.

Leadership & Action
Howard County has the most engaged citizenry in Maryland. These issues reflect what I’m hearing as I knock on doors across the district, attend Council meetings, and meet with residents and community groups and their leaders.
Land Use
Balancing development with the needs of our community, its resources and our economy is key to Howard County’s continued long-term success.
Education
Jon wants our educators to have the resources they need to prepare our children to be productive members of the workforce, whether after graduation or after achieving their college degrees.
Economy
Our goal should be to increase the opportunities for our residents to work locally, decreasing the impact on our roads and the environment.
Environment
Alternative energy, storm water mitigation, and expanded recycling programs are just a few important areas that contribute to improving our community’s environment and our impact in the region. Jon will continue to support and promote effective and innovative programs and policies that improve the environment in our county..
Public Safety
The need for effective public safety grows as our community grows. Jon has made sure our police, firefighters, sheriff, first responders, and community service organizations like HopeWorks (the County’s domestic violence center) have the necessary support, resources, and funding.
"Jon has earned our support by demonstrating his commitment to public safety by riding along with us, talking with our members, and committing to work with us to make Howard County safer."
Allie Ehart - Howard County Police Officer, and Rose Smithmyer, Howard County Firefighter"I have known Jon for years as a customer, fellow business-owner, and friend.
