Paul Lemle, President of the Howard County Education Association sent the following email to the organization’s members providing a few reasons for why I earned their endorsement.
As you know, HCEA recommends candidates who support YOU, our students and our school system. We have endorsed Jon Weinstein for County Council district 1 (the seat being vacated by Courtney Watson). Jon has been committed to our schools since moving with his wife, Margaret and sons, Zach and Ben to Howard County over 18 years ago. He credits their success in school and then college to the amazing educators they experienced during their time in our public schools. Here are a few reasons why we recommend Jon:
- Strongly supports multi-year contracts and caps on class size.
- Is firmly committed to increasing opportunities for affordable/workforce housing.
- Jon is a small business owner and understands the role of public education in economic growth
- While his sons were in school, he was an active parent, assisting with in-school and extracurricular programming, including bringing a Holocaust survivor to speak to students at Ellicott Mills Middle.
