First 100 days (#6) – Coordinate Action on Historic EC Flooding

First 100 days (#6) – Coordinate Action on Historic EC Flooding

Create, convene, and lead an Ellicott City Flooding Working Group to act on initiatives identified to reduce flooding in the historic district and other parts of community. The EC Working Group would be comprised of key stakeholders at the local, state, and federal levels and would bring together the necessary expertise to review, select, and implement initiatives. Working Group members will include residents, property owners, community organizations (e.g., EC Partnership), and relevant government organizations (e.g., the Office of Emergency Management, Department of Public Works, Historic District Commission, Office of Environmental Sustainability, Department of Planning and Zoning, Department of Inspections, Licenses, and Permitting, MD Emergency Management, State Highways, and Federal FEMA and EPA).

This idea was Inspired by Lori Lilly (Restoring the Environment and Developing Youth – READY) during our walking tour with Frank Durantaye through the Tiber to see flood causes and risks first hand.
