Establish Joint Committee with Baltimore County districts (1 and 4) adjoining Ellicott City and Elkridge to address issues of mutual concern, interest, and action. The group would collaborate and coordinate on activities related to homelessness, parklands, history, and flooding.
- Homelessness – Helping the people that move between the counties along Routes 40 & 1 and between Historic Ellicott City and Oella. This is a long-standing issue and coordination is required to find more effective approaches to addressing homelessness in this area.
- Parklands – Patapsco State Park is an incredible asset shared between the Howard and Baltimore Counties. The issue of parking and accessing the park at the rope bridge on Ilchester Road can and should be solved.
- History – Ellicott City, Elkridge, Oella, Hanover, and Arbutus are all areas rich in history. Creating a regional historic area can leverage and multiply the interest and attention and contribute to improving the preservation and promotion of the area’s history, it’s vibrant present and promising future.
- Flooding – Expand the approach to mitigating flooding to look at the causes in the region, outside the Ellicott City and Howard County boundaries, in search of sustainable and long-term solutions.
