Important Information About Delays in Trash and Recycling Collections

Due to a collective bargaining impasse, one of the County’s 5 trash hauling contractors has experienced an employee walk out which started on Friday, December 26 and has affected trash and recycling curbside collections in Howard and Montgomery Counties. Some residents may experience late or missed collections. The county and the contractor have made arrangements with other companies to assist in providing services in the intern. While every effort is being made by the contractor to resolve the impasse, the walk out is expected to last into the near future. Due to these circumstances, we are prioritizing trash and food scrap collections. If your regular recycling and/or yard trim is missed, please hold it till the following week. The contractor in unison with the county are doing their best to complete collection services in a timely matter; however trucks may be running late in some areas. If your trash or food scraps collections are missed, please call 410-313-6444. Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience. Updates will be posted as they become available. Reminder: The New Year’s Slide Schedule will still be in affect. There will be no curbside collections on Thurs, January 1. Thursday collections will slide to Friday and Friday collections will slide to Saturday.
